Who should go here: Those looking for thrilling adventures and a desire to learn about the Andean way of life. El Porvenir is a fully functional Hacienda high in the Andean moorlands.
Hacienda El Porvenir is located in the Cotopaxi National Park area. It’s farm house, or “casa de hacienda”, the name given in Ecuador’s highlands to these large buildings, was built with local materials: straw, eucalyptus wood, adobe and sun-dried brick. Guest of the hacienda can partake of an enjoyable yet also a functional stay.
The standard bedrooms, called “machais” after an old word alluding “páramo” caves, are inspired by the huts built by highland Indians with their straw roofs and walls made of reed or cattail mat woven by the skilled hands of local craftsmen. Each of the bedrooms can accommodate two persons, except the master bedroom where four people can sleep in. Close to the straw that covers the roofs, sleep is easy in these rooms with woven mats by skilled hands, curtains made of ancestral hemp cloth, and soft and comfortable beds.
