The Galapagos Islands, also called “The enchanted islands”, are located 600 miles from the Ecuadorian coast. They are Ecuador’s most important National Park and one of the most important in the world. Because of this, UNESCO named the islands “Natural Patrimony of Humanity”.
The Archipiélago of Galápagos is of volcanic origin and its islands emerged from the bottom of the Pacific Ocean more than 6 million years ago. This natural sanctuary is made of 13 main islands, 6 minor islands and more than 40 rocks and tiny islands.
There is no other place in the world where you will be able to discover the magic and the beauty of a natural bio-diverse laboratory. It was here where Charles Darwin wrote in 1835 his theory of the evolution of species, and the same place where today those same species are still in their natural state. The Galápagos is one of the most famous National Parks in the world, thanks to its endemic species, which cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
In the Galapagos we can find Marine and Land iguanas, Blue and Red-footed boobies, penguins, more than 13 finch species, sea lions, sharks, whales, and the famous Galapagos tortoises which gave their name to the islands. The abundant sea life makes the islands an ideal place to proactive snorkeling and scuba diving.
