Discover the largestand most modern city in Ecuador, Guayaquil. It is the Capital of the Province of Guayas, and it is located by the Pacific Coast. It is the Country’s main port and it is also commonly known as the “ Pearl of the Pacific”. Guayaquil was founded on July 25th, 1534 by Francisco de Orellana, and since its inception, the city has been essential to the development of Ecuador.
Among its main attractions, you will find “Las Penas”, a colonial neighborhood by the Guayas River. You can also visit the Malecon 2000, which is 2.5km in length and it is the main example of the modern arquitecture of the city in the last few years. Also enjoy a visit to the hill of Santa Ana, with its colorful colonial houses, the “Centenario Park”, the Park of the Iguanas, the natural park of “Cerro Blanco”, the Botanic Garden and the beautiful “Parque Historico”.
To the Northeast of the city, you will find the nicest part of the Ecuadorian coast, the beach towns of Salinas, Playas, Olon and Montanita. This is tropical area full of beautiful beaches and untouched eco-systems. You will also be able to visit colorful fishing towns and savor some of the best seafood dishes in the Country.
