Afterwards you will visit the Limpiapungo Lake and you will climbing up to the snow line of the Cotopaxi and arrive to the first shelter located at 15,744 ft. |
There are many protected areas in the Andes, which are home to volcanoes, mountains, lakes, valleys, rainforest and tropical forests, as well as a great variety of flora and fauna.
The highest peaks are found here in the Andes: The Cotopaxi (19,348 ft) consider the highest active volcano in the world, and the Chimborazo, one of the highest peaks in the world (20,703 ft). Cayambe is the only snow capped mountain at latitude zero and about 10 peaks in this area of the highlands reach altitudes of over five thousand meters. Of these, nine have glaciers.
