San Cristobal island is the administrative centre of the Galapagos Islands, with Puerto Baquerizo Moreno as capital. The geography of the island is composed of two distinct parts. The west part has a central volcano culminating at about 700 mt. (San Juaquin), with a few parasitic cones. The eastern part of the island,made of spatter cones and lava flows, does not rise above 160 mt.
The visitors sites are: Cerro de las tijeras (Frigatebird hill), El Junco (Freshwater lake), Kicker rock (Leon Dormido) and Stephens bay, the Loberia and lobos island.
