The Huaorani people have inhabited the headwaters of the Amazon for millennia. They have lived as hunters and gatherers, entirely without contact from outsiders right up until the end of the 1950s. Indeed, at least one Huaorani clan continues to shun all contact with the outside world, the Tagaeri. Numbering approximately 1,200 individuals, the Huaorani continue to maintain a largely traditional lifestyle, living from the rainforest, although missionaries and oil companies have had some influence.

As tour operators, committed to the principles of sustainability, we will ensure that the community and ONHAE, the Huaorani Federation, receive proper economic benefit from the tourism operation. A fee is paid per visitor to the community and the Huaorani Federation, and the local inhabitants, remunerated for their work in the operation, are trained in all the different areas related to socially- and ecologically-responsible tourism: guiding, maintenance, proper waste disposal methods, logistics.
